Goodwin Dogs from 1890

Hairless Terrier

This full color card was issued 125 years ago by Goodwin & Co. This beautiful card is from a set of 50 cards entitled "Dogs of the World". The front of the card shows a colored artist drawn picture of the dog, while the back of the card has advertising. It is made of thicker card which was originally meant to be used as a "stiffener" to prevent the cigarettes from being crushed. This card was given as a free premium with the purchase of cigarettes. It is one of the FIRST dog cards ever produced! The card measures 2 3/4" x 1 1/2" or 70mm x 40mm. Reverse of this card has glue stains (a lot).
